MEET SUSAN

My plant-based journey started over a decade ago when an initial mammogram indicated a heightened risk for breast cancer. Research into the lifestyle changes I could make to reduce my cancer risk led me to  a plant-based diet. I have since developed a passion for the evidence-based science behind a whole-food plant-based diet for optimum health and have become certified in plant-based nutrition through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies at eCornell and licensed as a Food for Life instructor through the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

I completed my initial health coach training  at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and have since gone on to complete additional training in Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches offered jointly by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and Wellcoaches. I also gained an additional certification in Plant-based Coaching through the Food Revolution Network. I am currently preparing for the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches Certification Exam.

In addition to my work as a health coach and Food for Life instructor, I am also an educator with over 25 years of experience teaching college students and other adults. I earned an MA in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in Language and Literacy Education from The University of Georgia.

I am also a certified yoga instructor, Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, and Jazzersize instructor, passionate about lifelong fitness, movement, and mindfulness.
